Acadia Olive Growers Association

An Agricultural And Development Local Cooperative In The Towns Of Kelly And Kafr Aruq In Rural Idlib, Concerned With Olive Farmers  And Raising Their Efficiency. This Association Is A Pioneering Idea Designed By The Watan System As A Pioneering New Idea In Northwestern Syria Within The Journey Home Project Funded By The European Union, As It Is Considered A Cornerstone And A First Step Of Sustainable Development To Empower The Syrian Society. Building Economic Empowerment Activities In The Northwestern Region Of Syria, Which Has Been Suffering From The Effects Of War And Destruction For More Than A Decade, The Association Also Considers  An Added Value To Olive Farmers And The Olive Value Chain, As It Will Contribute To Strengthening Collective Action And Syrian Societal Stability. The Acadia Olive Growers Association Was Established To Support Olive Farmers In The Second Half Of 2023 And Has Begun To Pursue Innovative Support Mechanisms To Catalyze Real Change, Reduce The Burden Of Production, Enhance Farmers’ Productivity, Empower Them Economically And Stimulate Agricultural Practices In The Region. With The Guidance Of The European Union For Continuous Support And Through The Activities Of The Repatriation Project, And Implemented By The Association “Olive Growers Acadia”, Under The Supervision Of The Watan System

Association members

The association currently includes 476 olive farmers from the villages of Killi and Kafr Arouq, and it is possible in the future to expand the association’s work and activities horizontally to include a larger segment of farmers. The efforts of all members combine to develop the association’s work, increase the quality of the activities implemented, and enable the association to expand in the future to be a success story that includes all olive growers in northwestern Syria

Bylaws and regulations of the Olive Growers Association

There is a development plan for the association, as many trainings were provided to members of the association’s board of directors by the Watan system, such as governance training, and there are some trainings that are currently being provided, such as entrepreneurship training. There are also planned trainings that will be provided to provide the association with an accounting system to control financial and warehouse operations and inventory management. You can view the drafts of the internal regulations, policies, and contract system, which are expected to be approved at the beginning of May 2024 after being presented to a vote in an electoral conference currently being organized by the Watan System
